Liberia Mercy partners is seeking to make a positive impact in Liberia in the realm of medical care. Medical services in Liberia are extremely limited. The country was hardest hit in the world by the Ebola outbreak. LMP supports clinics, like Refuge Place International (RPI), headed up by Dr. Masoka Fallah. Dr. Fallah led the Ebola task force during Liberia’s Liberia outbreak. RPI operates a clinic in Monrovia, where people can receive low or no-cost medical services. Their focus is providing care for the most vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, children under five, and the elderly.
LMP helps fund other medical centers, and is in the process of pursuing a USAID grant to help address one of the world’s highest mortality rates for women with difficult pregnancies. The grant, if received, will enable LMP to build a leading medical center for expectant mothers in the country. Liberia Mercy Partners also responds to immediate medical crises and events. When you click on the “where needed most” button for your donation, those funds go to the most pressing needs that come to the board of directors' attention. LMP has currently taken on the task of sending children from Liberia to Ghana who are in desperate need of throat repair after having drunk caustic liquids by accident. This is a common occurrence in Liberia, as children have access to dangerous products that lack child-proof features. After ingesting these poisons, children’s throats are so damaged that they can only be fed through a stomach tube. The surgeries to repair this damage are not available in Liberia; LMP has located a surgery center in Ghana that can successfully conduct this procedure. HOW YOU CAN HELP To date, we have sent 3 children for this surgery at a cost of $10,000 per child. We currently have 6 children waiting for funds so that they can receive this life-changing procedure. Donate today to save a child’s life. |
